Job summary

NorthShore University HealthSystem is seeking Respiratory Therapists across several hospital locations in Illinois, including Elmhurst. This evergreen opportunity offers flexible shifts and the chance to work in a dynamic clinical setting.

Responsibilities include delivering respiratory therapy as ordered, assessing patients, documenting care, and educating patients and families while monitoring responses, with special attention to pediatric and neonatal patients.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or registry-eligible status.
• State licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner within six months of employment.
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association).

Responsibilities

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians.
• Assess patients to determine the most suitable treatment.
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities.
• Transcribe verbal or telephone orders by physicians.
• Communicate treatment details clearly to patients and family.
• Monitor physiological response to therapy, with focus on pediatric and neonatal patients.
• Provide education to patients and staff.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range: $33.16 - $49.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Sign-on bonus potential up to $25,000 for full-time nights and $10,000 for full-time days and evenings!

• Full-time, part-time, or PRN (8 and 12-hour shift options)
• Day, evening, and overnight shifts

What you will do:

• Provide respiratory therapy to patients as ordered by physicians according hospital policy and procedures
• Assess patients to determine most suitable method of administering treatment
• Document treatment, equipment maintenance and quality control activities and transcribe verbal or phone order by physicians
• Communicate to patient and family the treatment being performed in a clear manner
• Monitor patient physiological response to therapy with special attention to the pediatric and neonatal patients
• Provide patient and staff education

What you will need:

• Graduation from a nationally accredited Respiratory Therapy program, as determined by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or proof of registry eligible status
• State of Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure within six months of employment
• Current CPR certification issued by the American Heart Association
