Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to support the respiratory department with a thorough understanding of equipment, indications, and contraindications for procedures. You will ensure safe, effective therapy and patient monitoring.

The role requires graduation from a CoARC approved program and current NBRC credentials, state license, and BLS/ALS. Weekend and holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• CoARC approved school completion.
• Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist per NBRC.
• Louisiana licensure as Respiratory Therapist.
• BLS and ALS certifications per ILCOR.
• NICU/PICU experience with NRP and PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapy and diagnostic procedures with understanding of equipment and patient physiology.
• Ensure proper indications, contraindications, and safety during procedures.
• Work weekends and holidays as required.

Job Description And Position Requirements

Scheduled Weekly Hours: TBD

Work Shift: 0630-1900, 1830-700, 0630-1500, 1430 - 2300, or 1830 - 2300

Summary of the Job

Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the respiratory department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient.

Minimum qualifications

• Successful completion of a CoARC approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Current Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist.
• Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners as a licensed respiratory therapist.
• Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
• NICU and PICU experience along with NRP and PALS certifications are highly preferred.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.
