Job summary

St. Tammany Health System in Covington, LA is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures with full understanding of equipment and patient effects.

The role requires AR/CBLO credentials, Louisiana licensure as a respiratory therapist, and current BLS/ALS with ILCOR-approved courses. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30a–4:00p, with emphasis on patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Pulmonary Function testing experience required.
• Current NBRC credentials as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Licensed Respiratory Therapist in Louisiana.
• BLS and ALS certifications with manikin check-off; PALS/NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures in the department.
• Understand equipment, supplies, indications, contraindications, and patient physiologic effects.

Work Shift: Monday - Friday: 7:30a - 4:00p

Summary of the Job:
Responsible for the performance of all therapeutic and diagnostic procedures available through the Department with complete understanding of the equipment, supplies, indications, and contraindications for use, and physiological effects upon the patient.

Minimum Qualifications

• Successful completion of an AMA approved school of Respiratory Therapy/Cardiopulmonary Science.
• Pulmonary Function testing experience
• Current Certification by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered or Certified Respiratory therapist.
• Current license by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examinersas a licensed respiratory therapist.
• Current BLS and ALS certifications through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.PALS and NRP certifications are preferred.
• Current certification through one of the following agencies or willingness to obtain certification within 12 months of hire:
• Basic computer skills

Physical Demands

Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

Frequently (34%-66%) - stooping, crouching, reaching, handling/feeling
Occasionally (1%-33%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), balancing
