Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic seeks a part-time Respiratory Therapist for Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital's Respiratory Services unit in Darby, PA. You will operate respiratory care equipment and assist with medication delivery to support respiratory care plans.

Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, ABG sampling, ventilator setup, pulse oximetry, and patient/family education. Requires PA licensure in respiratory therapy, NBRC registration, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy.
• Must be registered by the NBRC.
• AHA BLS certification.
• HS graduate or equivalent, graduate of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program.

Responsibilities

• Operates respiratory care equipment to diagnose and treat respiratory disease or illness under supervision.
• Delivers medications to assist in control of respiratory ailments.
• Demonstrates oxygen therapy competence.
• Performs arterial blood gas sampling and monitors patient condition.
• Sets up and maintains ventilator functions.
• Demonstrates appropriate use of pulse oximetry device and educates patients/families.

Employment Type: Per Diem

Shift: Rotating 12hr shifts
Location: Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital

Position Purpose

Under supervision of the department manager and/upon request of the physician order sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the Diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness. Also delivery of medications needed to assist in control of Respiratory ailments.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will:

• Demonstrates competence in providing Oxygen Therapy
• Demonstrates competence in Arterial Blood Gas Sampling
• Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately (notifies nurse/physician, initiates CPR)
• Sets up and maintains ventilator functions
• Demonstrates appropriate use of pulse oximetry device
• Participates in the education process of patients and families

Minimum Qualifications

• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy
• Must be registered by the NBRC
• AHA BLS
• HS graduate or equivalent, graduate of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program
