Job summary

Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA, is seeking a part-time Respiratory Therapist (24 hours/week) for a 12-hour night shift. The role involves operating respiratory care equipment, delivering medications, and assisting in patient assessments under supervision.

The ideal candidate has an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program, PA licensure, NBRC registration, and BLS certification. CT and education responsibilities emphasize patient-family education and care coordination.

Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent required.
• Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program required.
• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy required; NBRC registration preferred.
• BLS required; NBRC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment.
• Delivers medications to support respiratory conditions.
• Recognizes patient condition changes and notifies nurse/physician; initiates CPR.
• Sets up and maintains ventilator functions.
• Uses pulse oximetry appropriately.
• Participates in patient and family education.

Position Purpose

Under supervision of the department manager and/upon request of the physician order, the Respiratory Therapist sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness. Also, delivery of medications needed to assist in control of Respiratory ailments.

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will:

• Demonstrates competence in providing Oxygen Therapy




• Demonstrates competence in Arterial Blood Gas Sampling




• Recognizes changes in patient condition and responds appropriately (notifies nurse/physician, initiates CPR)




• Sets up and maintains ventilator functions




• Demonstrates appropriate use of pulse oximetry device




• Participates in the education process of patients and families

Minimum Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent required.




• Graduate of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program required




• Current PA License in Respiratory Therapy required, m ust be registered by the NBRC




• BLS required
