Role Overview: The Respiratory Therapist II provides advanced respiratory care in critical settings, including ventilator management, medication administration, and patient assessments. They deliver safe, quality care while addressing patient-specific needs, educating patients and families, and mentoring staff and students. The position emphasizes independent decision-making, adherence to protocols, and participation in performance improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Administers aerosolized medications, performs airway management, and manages ventilators and arterial blood gases.
• Collaborates with healthcare team for comprehensive patient care planning.
• Ensures accurate documentation, promotes patient safety, and supports quality improvement efforts.
• Provides education to patients, families, and staff, and participates in invasive and diagnostic procedures.
• Supports a positive team environment and contributes to staff development.
• Adheres to hospital policies, standards, and codes of conduct.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy program; Associate's degree required, Bachelor's preferred.
• 0-2 years of clinical experience, with at least 6 months in critical care.
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and computer skills.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist credential required, along with BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP certifications, and instructor certifications as applicable.
