Job summary

Colonial Care Rehab in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist to join our skilled nursing team. You will provide bedside respiratory care, explain treatments to residents, and monitor ventilators and airway support in a sub-acute unit.

Responsibilities include operating IPPB and oxygen devices, performing chest therapy, and maintaining detailed patient records. A CA license and BLS are required, with flexibility for weekends and evenings. OBRA/Title XXII knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Background checks and health clearances required (TB test, physical).
• Current California Respiratory Care License and active standing.
• Basic Life Support certification is mandatory.
• Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
• Familiarity with OBRA and Title XXII guidelines for LTC facilities.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment for residents in sub-acute unit.
• Explain treatments to residents and obtain consent where required.
• Perform IPPB, oxygen therapy, nebulizers, and humidity control as prescribed.
• Monitor ventilator function and assist with weaning when appropriate.
• Record treatments and patient responses in medical charts.
• Maintain ventilator and respiratory equipment, including safety checks.
• Conduct rounds and ensure oxygen equipment is functional and clean.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and care coordinators to optimize care.
