Job summary

MedStar Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care across patient populations in our Maryland facility. You will perform treatments, monitor patients, and operate ventilators and related equipment within established protocols.

Applicants should have an Associate's degree in respiratory care, be eligible for Maryland/DC licensure, and be prepared for certifications within a year. A strong team player with solid communication skills is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an AMA-accredited respiratory care program (AAS or higher) is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a related healthcare field is preferred.
• Less than 1 year of acute care experience; registry eligible is required.
• RCP license must be active in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia; CRT required.
• ACLS/NRP/PALS certifications required within 1 year where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assesses patient physical, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural dimensions and education needs.
• Performs respiratory therapy treatments and services including oxygen, humidity, ventilators, bronchial hygiene, spirometry, EKG, and blood gas analysis.
• Utilizes therapeutic communication and problem solving in patient care.
• Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders during shifts.
• Responds to CPR and maintains airway; provides oxygen and ventilation as needed.
