Job summary

Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients. You will administer oxygen, medications, and support ventilation as ordered by physicians, while ensuring safety and infection control.

Responsibilities include monitoring patient status, performing pulmonary function tests, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent).
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and any other applicable certifications.
• North Carolina licensure or provisional license required; NBRC registry eligibility if graduate.

Responsibilities

• Administer oxygen and aerosolized medications (IPPB, IAT, MDI).
• Perform CPR and bag‑mask ventilation.
• Monitor pulse oximetry and arterial blood gases as indicated.
• Conduct diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures and bedside lung mechanics.
• Transport patients within the hospital and ensure equipment safety.
• Provide education to patients and families and document care in the medical record.
