Job summary

Duke University Health System is hiring a Respiratory Therapist at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, NC. You will perform diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role emphasizes oxygen therapy, inhaled medications, airway management and patient education, with a focus on safety and infection control. North Carolina licensure and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge to make appropriate clinical decisions for patients of all ages.
• Strong communication and patient education abilities.

Responsibilities

• Administer oxygen and aerosolized medications (IPPB/IAT/MDI).
• Perform airway suctioning, CPR and bag-mask ventilation.
• Monitor pulse oximetry and arterial blood gases.
• Carry out diagnostic cardiopulmonary procedures and pulmonary function tests.
• Transport patients and verify physician orders; ensure equipment safety.
