Job summary

Duke Health in Durham, NC is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care under physician orders in neonatal, pediatric and adult populations. You will administer oxygen and aerosolized medications, monitor vital signs, and support patient care across units.

The role emphasizes safety, infection control, education for patients and families, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and the health care team.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree) or currently enrolled.
• NC State Licensure or North Carolina State Provisional License, NBRC certification if graduate.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and any other applicable certifications applicable to the institution.

Responsibilities

• Administer oxygen and aerosolized medications.
• Perform CPR and bag-mask ventilation.
• Monitor pulse oximetry and arterial blood gases.
• Perform bedside pulmonary mechanics and cardiopulmonary studies.
• Ensure safety and function of respiratory equipment.
