Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner I at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, to provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.

The role requires completion of a 2-year AMA-approved respiratory care program with NC licensure, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications where applicable. You will support a multidisciplinary team and contribute to patient safety and high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2 year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates Degree or the equivalent).
• Must maintain North Carolina annual license requirements for CEUs and safety/compliance requirements.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRPS) if applicable.
• Six months to one year of clinical experience following graduation from a respiratory care program.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice for neonatal, pediatric and adult patients.
• Proficient in mechanical ventilator modalities and in Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV), CPAP and BiPAP.
• Assist with bronchoscopy and orientation of Level II RT; participate in code/emergency teams.
• Maintain safety and ensure proper operation of devices in MRI and other hospital areas.
