Job summary

Woodlawn Health in Rochester, Indiana, is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist for the Day Shift to provide inpatient and outpatient respiratory care. You will work with physicians and staff to help patients breathe easier and improve quality of life.

Required NBRC CRT credentials and an Indiana RCP license, plus BLS; ACLS, PALS, and NRP are preferred or will be pursued. Join a collaborative team dedicated to excellent patient care near home.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform inpatient and outpatient respiratory therapy procedures as ordered.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in resuscitation efforts.
• May be trained for endotracheal intubation.
• Maintain ability to perform arterial blood gases per policy.
• Collaborate with staff and physicians to optimize patient care.
• Ensure oxygen equipment is checked and maintained.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma as a Graduate of School of Respiratory Therapy and/or credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT).


• Credentialed by the NBRC as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) preferred.


• Licensed by the state of Indiana as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).


• Must possess Basic Life Support certification or obtain prior to providing direct patient care. Thereafter, maintain BLS certification per hospital policy.


• Must possess and maintain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification or be willing to obtain in a timely manner.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Perform Inpatient and Outpatient Respiratory Therapy procedures as ordered by the physicians and performed according to the departmental and hospital policies and procedures.


• Respond to Code Blue, Condition H, Dr Section and C-Sections as well as assist in emergency resuscitation.


• May be trained to perform Endotracheal Intubation.


• Ability to perform Arterial Blood Gases as outlined by departmental procedure and policy.


• Must be flexible with the department schedule and have ability to adapt to variations in scheduling (including but not limited to overtime, work schedule changes or low census).


• Responsible for working independently and/or cooperatively with other staff.


• Ability to be proficient with electronic charting. Possess ability to communicate clearly. Possess ability to understand hospital processes including but not limited to standards, reports and trends, hospital correspondence and practices, as well as policies and procedures. Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.


• Check and maintain all oxygen equipment for the hospital.
