Job summary

IU Health in Fort Wayne is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to join our night-shift team. You will evaluate and treat cardiopulmonary disorders, collaborate with care teams, and advocate for patients across units.

The role requires Indiana licensure, CoARC-accredited education, NBRC board eligibility/verification, and provider certification; ACLS/PALS/NRP are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Requires current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the state of Indiana.
• Graduation from a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program.
• NBRC registry exam to be passed within 6 months of hire date; 1-year grace if date aligns.
• Healthcare Provider Certification required; ACLS/PALS/NRP preferred depending on unit.

Responsibilities

• Support cardiopulmonary care for diverse patient populations.
• Collaborate with nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists.
• Participate in bedside rounds and advocate for patients.

About This Position:

• Night Shift, 5:30pm-6:00am, 3 -12's
• Night Shift Pay Differential included
• Sign On Bonus of $30,000 to Eligible External Candidates
• Relocation Bonus of up to $10,000 available to Eligible External Candidates based on their location
• Weekend Requirement of Every 4th Weekend
• Participate in bedside rounds & be a patient advocate

• Location: Fort Wayne Hospital

Our Respiratory Therapists (RT) work closely with our patients to evaluate and treat patients with cardiopulmonary disorders ranging in modalities and demographics. We are also responsible for collaborating with various different entities in the hospital setting including nurses, Advanced Respiratory Therapists, and Clinical Specialists to ensure total customer happiness and support.

Requirements:

• Requires current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner from the state of Indiana.
• Requires graduation from a CoARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) and regionally accredited respiratory care program.
• Requires that the N.B.R.C. (National Board for Respiratory Care) registry exam be passed within 6 months of hire date. The 6-month requirement for the RRT is void if hire date is one year past graduation date.
• Requires Healthcare Provider Certification. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Preferred ACLS; PALS; and/or NRP certification.
• Requires strong customer service skills.
• Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires the ability to deal with confidential patient information.
• Requires basic computer skills and ability to work with EMR.
