Job summary

Atrium Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a Respiratory Therapist to apply oxygen delivery methods, initiate and monitor ventilators, and perform prescribed respiratory procedures. You will assess patient needs, document therapy results, and communicate with the care team.

Graduate of an AMA-approved Respiratory Care program with an RRT credential and state licensure is required. BLS is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred. Two years of critical care experience may be expected for advanced roles.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Care.
• Associate's RRT or RRT Equivalent required.
• BLS required per policy guidelines.
• Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the applicable state.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by NBRC.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge in modes of oxygen delivery and the equipment needed for each.
• Administers therapeutic procedures and explains benefits/risks.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as outlined in policy.
• Initiates and maintains mechanical and non-invasive ventilators.
• Evaluates current therapies and makes recommendations for plans of care.
• Documents therapy and results; communicates with the healthcare team.
• Operates respiratory care techniques in emergencies.
• Performs blood sampling analysis and interprets results.
• Works independently across patient care areas and assists others.
• Follows safety guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Completes proficiency evaluations of equipment and procedures.
• Proficient with electronic medical records interfaces.
