Qualifications

• NBRC credential
• Licensed by the State Board of Medicine or State Board of Osteopathic Medicine
• Graduate of an AMA approved School of Respiratory Care
• Associate's/2-year degree required
• Registered by the NBRC or must obtain NBRC registration within 2 years of hire
• ACLS and/or NALS preferred
• Basic Cardiac Life Support/BLS certificated

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff.
• Administers physician prescribed respiratory therapy including oxygen, respiratory medications, PFTs, ABGs, and all mechanical ventilation.
• Performs evaluation procedures to determine respiratory care needs and makes recommendations.
• Monitors patients on mechanical ventilation including assessment, rounds, weaning, airway care, and testing.
• Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath specimens and measures lung capacity.
• Offers diagnostic results and treatment suggestions based on analysis.
• Communicates with health care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Ensures smooth operation of PFT and ABG laboratory
