Job summary

Atlantic Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care and life support under physician supervision in New Jersey. Responsibilities include evaluating therapy needs, administering inhaled meds, operating ventilators, monitoring patient responses, and performing pulmonary function tests.

Qualifications include AS in Respiratory Therapy, NJ license, NBRC RRT within 12 months, and BLS/ALS Certifications.

Qualifications

• AS degree from an accredited respiratory therapist program is required.
• 1+ years of respiratory care experience preferred; critical care experience highly preferred.
• NBRC-credentialed as RRT required within one year of employment; NJ license active.
• Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support certifications required or obtainable within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, assess patient condition to determine therapy.
• Administer inhaled medications and position patients to aid breathing.
• Set up and operate ventilators, gas administration, and environmental control systems.
• Monitor therapy parameters (vital signs, ABG, blood chemistry) and adjust as needed.
• Perform pulmonary function tests to aid physician diagnosis and patient care.
• Provide patient education and support for chronic lung disease; assist in care for prematures and elderly as needed.
