Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide care across neonatal to geriatric patients, including oxygen therapy, diagnostics, and ventilation support. You will monitor and wean oxygen therapy and assist with artificial airways per physician orders.

The role requires a current Respiratory Therapist license, NBRC credentials, BLS, and ACLS within 90 days. Candidates should have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be capable of data entry and charting in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in respiratory therapy; Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy preferred.
• Work Experience: 2 years respiratory therapy experience.
• Licensure/credentials: Current license as a Respiratory Therapist; Credentialed by NBRC as CRT or RRT; BLS; ACLS within 90 days; NRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and advanced therapeutic procedures.
• Reviews and documents all clinical information for each patient encounter.
• Educates patients and healthcare team on procedures and treatment plans.
• Performs diagnostic procedures (e.g., arterial blood gases, EKGs).
• Adapts communication and care to neonatal to geriatric patients.
• Maintains compliance with policies and safety standards.

2 years respiratory therapy experience

Effective verbal and written skills

Strong interpersonal skills

Education

Associate's degree in respiratory therapy

Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy (preferred)

Tools

Current license as Respiratory Therapist

NBRC Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist

BLS Certification

ACLS required within 90 days of hire
