Job summary

MedStar Health in Dundalk, MD is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive respiratory care as ordered by physicians across all patient ages. You will perform therapies, monitor equipment, and participate in critical care procedures as part of a collaborative team.

Required is an AMA-accredited associate degree with licensure in MD/DC; CRT is required, RRT preferred, and ACLS/NRP/PALS within a year where required. Acute care experience is ideal.

Qualifications

• Understanding of human respiratory anatomy, physiology, and pathology as related to patient care.
• Ability to assess hazardous conditions and take corrective action.
• Ability to work with patients of all ages (neonatal to geriatrics) and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory care to all patient populations as ordered by physician according to standards and protocols.
• Assesses patient education needs and documents appropriately.
• Performs respiratory therapies and uses equipment for oxygen, humidity, ventilation, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion, spirometry, EKG, and blood gas analysis.
• Maintains airway and supports CPR during emergencies; responds to orders and reviews EMRs.
• Promotes workflow efficiency and adheres to policies; participates in process improvements.
