Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist to provide a broad range of respiratory care services for adults and neonates. You will perform ABG analysis, PFTs, mechanical ventilation management and delivery of oxygen therapies within department protocols.

The role requires active BLS and ACLS, Texas licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner and NBRC registration, plus at least 6 months of experience. Training for NRP/PALS within 1 year is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• NRP and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Board certification by NBRC.
• Minimum 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapies including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, incentive spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports arterial blood gas analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function testing and ECGs.
• Prepares treatment evaluations from bedside assessments and patient records.
• Interprets chest X-rays, ABG and PFT data; uses critical thinking in patient care decisions.
• Maintains and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment and supplies.
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance.
