Job summary

Methodist Southlake Medical Center is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide therapeutic and diagnostic care for adults and neonates, including ABG, PFTs, and ventilator support. Responsibilities include assessments, chart reviews, and equipment maintenance under indirect supervision.

The position requires Texas licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner, NBRC registration, and BLS/ACLS; NRP/PALS must be obtained within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Current ACLS certification required.
• NRP and PALS must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Texas license as Respiratory Care Practitioner in good standing.
• Registered by NBRC; at least 6 months respiratory care experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs respiratory therapeutics including oxygen administration and weaning, aerosol and humidity therapy, IPPB, Incentive Spirometry, airway maintenance, bronchial hygiene, chest physiotherapy, CPR and mechanical ventilation.
• Performs and reports prescribed cardiopulmonary diagnostic procedures including ABG analysis, pulse oximetry, pulmonary function studies, and ECGs.
• Prepares a treatment evaluation with bedside respiratory assessment, patient interview, and chart review.
• Interprets CXR, ABG, and PFT data when reviewing patient data.
• Assembles, checks, operates, and troubleshoots cardiopulmonary equipment (airways, ventilators, analyzers, devices, blood gas analyzers).
• Participates in infection control, safety and quality assurance tasks.
• Performs cleaning and maintenance of all cardiopulmonary equipment and work areas.
• Uses appropriate customer scripting to improve patient satisfaction.
• Performs other duties as required.

Education

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program

Current Basic Life Support certification

Current Advanced Cardio Life Support certification

NRP, Pediatric Advanced Life Support - must obtain within 1 year of hire

Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by Texas Medical Board

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care

At least 6 months respiratory care experience
