The Respiratory Therapist Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating respiratory therapy services within the facility while providing direct respiratory care as needed.
The Respiratory Therapist Manager will evaluate residents with pulmonary and respiratory needs, provide and oversee respiratory treatments, support ventilator-dependent residents, maintain respiratory equipment and supplies, ensure accurate clinical documentation, and collaborate closely with nursing, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
This position also plays an important role in ensuring the respiratory program operates efficiently and remains compliant with applicable facility policies and regulatory requirements.
Oversee the day-to-day operation of respiratory therapy services within the facility.
Assess residents for respiratory needs and recommend appropriate interventions.
Provide respiratory treatments and services within the Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of practice.
Assess oxygen saturation and appropriately utilize pulse oximetry.
Assess and provide care for ventilator-dependent residents.
Perform ventilator checks and respiratory treatments accurately and on schedule.
Evaluate residents for potential ventilator weaning and decannulation.
Communicate respiratory care recommendations and changes in condition to physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and other members of the care team.
Ensure physician orders, respiratory treatments, consultations, and relevant communications are accurately documented.
Complete and review Treatment Administration Records (TARs), including monthly reviews for accuracy and completeness.
Oversee respiratory equipment, supplies, and inventory to ensure appropriate availability, maintenance, and storage.
Promptly identify and report equipment, supply, clinical, or operational concerns.
Assist the facility with respiratory-related regulatory and compliance requirements.
Ensure required respiratory signage, documentation, equipment, and supplies are properly maintained.
Serve as a respiratory care resource for facility leadership and clinical staff.
Help identify and resolve routine respiratory care and operational issues.
Respond quickly and appropriately to respiratory emergencies and changes in resident condition.
Maintain resident confidentiality and follow all applicable HIPAA and facility requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Graduate of an approved/accredited respiratory care program required.
Current CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) or RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential required.
Current and valid Ohio Respiratory Care Professional license required.
Current CPR certification required.
Ventilator certification or advanced ventilator experience preferred.
Minimum of one year of respiratory therapy experience preferred.
Long-term care, skilled nursing, subacute, or post-acute care experience strongly preferred.
Experience caring for ventilator-dependent and tracheostomy residents preferred.
Previous leadership, supervisory, or respiratory program management experience preferred.
