Responsibilities
- Performs respiratory patient care including Aerosol Therapy, ABGs, ETTs, Bronchus, ECGs, CPT, Vent Care, CPAP/BIPAP therapy, and other Respiratory Care Procedures in accordance with safety, risk management, and procedural standards.
- Monitors patients for adverse reactions and takes corrective action.
- Attends high-risk deliveries and C/sections to provide patient care within scope of practice.
- Under the direction of a Provider, performs activities related to ventilator/CPAP/Airway management, surfactant replacement, and other modalities of respiratory care within scope of practice.
- May be required to perform EEG studies.
- Continuously evaluates and assesses the cardiopulmonary condition of patients using physical examination, respiratory monitoring, and diagnostic equipment.
- Determines the effectiveness of therapy and recommends changes to physicians and managers.
- Communicates patient assessments to nursing and other staff appropriately.
- Documents all work activities in applicable computer systems, including billing.
- Participates in transferring equipment and supplies, maintains and restocks supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements
- Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy.
- One (1) year recent clinical experience in Respiratory Care.
- Experience in the specialty area is preferred.
Job Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of respiratory patient care practices, standards, techniques, and tools.
- Knowledge of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health standards, legal issues, and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to perform respiratory therapies and procedures efficiently and effectively.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate in English.
- Proficiency with office equipment and automated systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Licensure/Certification
- License to practice as a respiratory care practitioner in Washington State.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification within six months of hire.
- PALS within 6 months of hire (12 months for hires before March 1, 2024).
- NRP within 6 months of hire.
- Hyperbaric Medicine staff to attend specialized training and obtain relevant certifications.

Pay Range
$34.58 - $51.65 per hour
