Job summary

Ascension is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for the Anderson, IN area to work the night shift (6:00pm–6:30am) on a full-time basis, with occasional float to St. Vincent Fishers.

You will develop individualized care plans, implement advanced therapies, and participate in emergency resuscitation efforts to improve patient outcomes. The role emphasizes educating patients and families, ongoing assessment of treatment effectiveness, and ensuring safe transitions from hospital to home.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 month of hire; American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credential from Indiana Respiratory Care Committee required before hire.
• NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credential required within 12 months of hire.
• Advanced Life Support preferred; AHAs/Red Cross accepted.
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred.
• PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of individualized care plans by assessing patient diagnosis and respiratory needs to ensure each treatment is medically precise and outcome-driven.
• Implement and manage advanced respiratory therapies using state-of-the-art equipment to stabilize and improve lung function for complex cases.
• Direct life-saving interventions as a core member of the emergency resuscitation team, providing rapid-response expertise when every second counts.
• Educate patients and families on respiratory health and community resources for a safe hospital-to-home transition.
• Monitor and refine treatment effectiveness by tracking progress in real-time and adjusting medications or modalities for quality care.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
