Job summary

Ascension is hiring a Respiratory Therapist for a weekend option and part-time schedule at the Winchester, IN facility. You will assess patients, develop and monitor respiratory care plans, adjust therapy, and educate patients and families.

Responsibilities include evaluating medications and outcomes, responding to emergencies, and collaborating with the care team to support patient recovery and safety.

Qualifications

• Indiana licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner before hire date.
• NBRC Registered credential within 12 months of hire.
• BLS Provider or Instructor certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and plan type/frequency of therapy.
• Implement and monitor care plans and equipment; document condition.
• Evaluate treatments based on patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families about condition and resources.
• Respond to emergency resuscitation events.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Assesses patient for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develops a plan of care based on diagnosis.
• Implements and monitors patient care plan and equipment. Monitors, records and communicates patient condition. Performs advanced respiratory care modalities.
• Evaluates respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
• Educates the patient and family about the health condition and provides information about community support groups and other available programs.
• Responds to emergency resuscitation team code.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Instructor specializing in Basic Life Support obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Preferred Credential(s):
  • Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
