Job summary

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent is required.
• Registered from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Current BLS Card, and at least two years of experience working with ventilator/respiratory care patients in acute care or long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality improvement activities and attend monthly QAPI meetings.
• Develop, create, and implement policies and procedures as indicated or requested, with submission to the Executive Team for approval.
• Annually review policies and procedures for continuing accuracy and current content; report accommodations to the QAPI committee.
• Monitor current contracts for supplies and equipment to assure best pricing.
• Attend care conferences and other meetings; suggest therapies and report progress and scheduling.
• Check orders and perform ventilator checks every four hours; manage oxygen therapy and related equipment.
• Wean schedules written and posted in treatment books; manage MARs and vent chart.
• New respiratory modality setups and physical assessments.
• Communicate with nurses and physicians to ensure continuity of care.
• Proper use of respiratory equipment and adapting equipment to patient needs.
• On-call response within thirty minutes.
• Oxygen equipment setup and monitoring; document findings in electronic chart.
• Maintain Nebulizer equipment and medications; chart maintenance.
• Suctioning setup and charting; report to Charge Nurse.
• RRT to perform BIPAP/CPAP checks with policy adherence.
• Ventilator setup and checks; follow ventilator plan; maintain records.
• Tracheostomy care and related responsibilities with proper charting.
• Educate residents, families, and staff on respiratory treatment and safety.
• Review transfer orders and ensure equipment availability.
• Inventory and maintain respiratory care supplies.
