Job summary

St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System seeks an experienced Respiratory Care Practitioner-2 to perform diagnostic and therapeutic modalities for patients with acute and chronic respiratory conditions.

Under physician direction, you will set up and operate respiratory care equipment, including ventilators, and conduct tests to assess cardiopulmonary function. The role requires an Associate’s degree, active RRT credential with NBRC, GA licensure, continuing education, and BCLS with ACLS; PALS/NRP

Qualifications

• Requires RRT credential and active NBRC; GA blood gas licensure
• 20 Continuing Education Units every two years to maintain RCP license
• BCLS certification required; ACLS required; PALS and NRP preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs chart review and assesses patient for appropriate respiratory care treatment.
• Performs intubations and ensures airway function and proper placement of intubation or arterial lines.
• Initiate treatment as per physician order; replace humidifiers and therapy appliances as needed.
• Handle patient and/or equipment issues; participate in patient treatment during high volume or low staffing; respond to Nursing Staff requests promptly.
• Per physician order, performs diagnostic testing, administers oxygen and assists physicians with bronchoscopies; demonstrates understanding of airway care, ventilator mechanics/theory, hemodynamics and pulmonary mechanics; assists in ventilator weaning.
