Responsibilities

• May serve as the shift Charge Therapist to ensure adequate staffing levels for patient care areas.
• Performs CPR including ACLS protocols.
• Assesses patient status and documents procedures in patient records.
• Operates and maintains mechanical ventilators and related therapy.
• Precepts new team members and students.
• Delivers prescribed respiratory therapies and educates patients and families.
• Instructs patients in incentive spirometry and MDI use.
• Collects sputum for culture or airway clearance as prescribed.
