Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, NC seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner I to deliver diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care under physician orders across neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients. You will support ventilator management, airway procedures, and participate in multidisciplinary rounds.

The role requires an AMA-approved associate degree in respiratory care, NC licensure, and ongoing safety and skills maintenance.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year AMA-approved respiratory care program.
• Maintain annual skill maintenance requirements.
• Maintain North Carolina annual license requirements (CEUs).

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per physician orders for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.
• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders and apply mechanical ventilator modalities.
• Assist with NPPV, CPAP, and BiPAP as required by the patient care plan.
• Perform endotracheal intubation under supervision; conduct extubations as directed.
• Serve on the code/emergency team and administer medical gases.
• Insert nasogastric/orogastric tubes and perform tracheotomy tube changes as needed.
• Perform capnography monitoring and transport patients requiring ventilation or airway support.
• Interpret clinical data to optimize patient outcomes and participate in rounds with the care team.
