Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, NC, seeks a Respiratory Care Practitioner I to perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures under physician orders for neonatal, pediatric, and adult patients.

You will evaluate medical orders, apply mechanical ventilator modalities, and assist with endotracheal intubations, extubations, and emergency code teams. Certification and NC licensure CEUs are required; prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year AMA approved respiratory care program.
• Maintain annual skill maintenance and safety/compliance requirements.
• Maintain North Carolina state licensure with CEUs.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care procedures per physician orders.
• Evaluate appropriateness of medical orders.
• Proficient in mechanical ventilator modalities and NIV (CPAP/BiPAP).
• Perform endotracheal intubation under supervision; extubations.
• Serve on the code/emergency team; administer medical gases.
• Insert nasogastric/orogastric tubes; perform tracheotomy changes.
• Capnography monitoring; transport ventilated patients; interpret data.
• Participate in rounds; assist with bronchoscopy; train Level II RTs.
• Ensure MRI device safety; hyperbaric chamber certification if applicable.
