Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Must be enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
  • 0-1 year of experience in respiratory care preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the respiratory system.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient assessments by gathering information about patients' respiratory conditions and monitoring vital signs.
  • Prepare equipment for respiratory therapy treatments (oxygen tanks, nebulizers, ventilators).
  • Maintain accurate records of patient assessments, treatment plans and progress.
  • Assist with administration of respiratory therapies (oxygen, chest physiotherapy, breathing exercises).
  • Help with resuscitation efforts in emergencies and notify the healthcare team.
  • Clean and sterilize equipment after each use to prevent infections.
