QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

The following is a list of qualifications for the position, any one of which may be waived by the Board in exercising its prerogative to determine qualifications.

  • Possess Masters Degree in special education for Teacher Consultant position.
  • Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in special education in one or more areas (EI, LD, and CI.).
  • Possess three years satisfactory teaching experience, including at least two years of teaching students with disabilities in a special education classroom
  • Understanding of SST process and coordination desired.
  • Training and instructional experience with state recommended reading and specialized programs desired.
  • Successful background and practice "consulting" with colleagues regarding program adaptations and modifications for students desired.
  • Successful background and experience working in a culturally diverse environment with ESL students desired.
  • Knowledge of/experience with special education due process procedures, writing of individual education plans and data collection desired.
  • Must submit evidence at time of interview of highly qualified status as defined through NCLB.
  • State Board of Education approval as a teacher consultant or able to qualify.
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination Required.
  • Copy of an active Michigan Teaching Certificate and college transcripts are required with application packet. Original certificate and certified transcripts are required prior to being hired.
