Job summary

Pet Paradise is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Lakewood Ranch resort in Bradenton, FL. This role oversees daily resort operations, staff performance, and guest satisfaction, driving service excellence and operational efficiency.

You will coordinate recruitment, training, and scheduling, while ensuring safety, cleanliness, and high service standards across front- and back-of-house areas. A strong hospitality background and leadership are essential for success.

Qualifications

• 1-2 of experience in a supervisory or management role.
• High school diploma required (college degree preferred).
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to manage, guide, train, and motivate employees.
• Ability to resolve conflict, establish and build relationships, and effectively engage with customers.
• Detail-oriented and focused on results, with goal attainment.
• Ability to develop and train staff, utilizing skills of staff appropriately.
• Prior leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality operations or similar.
• Previous experience in animal care or related field is preferred.
• Basic skills with common computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and able to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Comfortable in front of house and back of house roles.
• Flexibility to resort schedule including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
• Valid driver’s license and working vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations of the resort and staff while maintaining standards of conduct, cleanliness, and safety.
• Managing resort labor: creating and posting staff schedules, reviewing timecards, and controlling labor hours.
• Communicating recruitment needs to operations management and HR; interviewing and onboarding new staff.
• Supervising, training and coaching team members on company standards and procedures; identifying high performers for growth.
• Motivating staff to deliver premier service to pet guests and their parents in a safe, clean, and fun environment.
• Fostering open communication with regional and corporate teams; partnering with maintenance on building issues.
• Supporting training with completion of required courses and other programs.
• Documenting and delivering employee corrective actions and terminations when necessary.
• Maintaining inventory of supplies, conducting walk-throughs, managing lodging calendars, leading meetings, and other MOD duties.
• Maintaining customer service metrics such as NPS and online reviews; addressing customer concerns professionally.
• Developing methods to increase sales, promote new business, retain customers, and attract new clients.
• Performing resort opening/closing duties and other tasks as assigned.
• Maintaining a 5-day workweek onsite with limited consecutive days off.
• Working onsite 3-4 weekend days per month and on holidays.
