Job summary

Pet Paradise seeks an Assistant Manager to oversee daily resort operations in the Jacksonville area, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and high service standards for pets and their parents.

The role requires supervising staff, coordinating recruiting and onboarding, and maintaining strong communication with regional and corporate teams. On-site work with occasional weekends and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a supervisor or management role.
• High school diploma required (college degree preferred).
• Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, including the ability to train and motivate employees.
• Ability to resolve conflict, build relationships, and engage with customers.
• Detail-oriented and results-focused, with a drive to meet or exceed goals.
• Ability to develop and train staff, using available talent.
• Prior leadership experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality operations or similar.
• Previous experience in animal care or related field is preferred.
• Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Comfortable around dogs of all sizes and able to lift up to 60 lbs.
• Comfortable working in front of house and back of house roles within the resort.
• Flexibility to resort schedule needs including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
• Valid driver’s license and working motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily operations of the resort by maintaining standards of conduct, cleanliness, and safety.
• Managing resort labor, including creating and posting staff schedules, approving timecards, and controlling labor hours.
• Communicating recruitment needs to operations management and HR, and interviewing and onboarding new staff.
• Supervising, training and coaching team members on standards, policies and procedures, identifying high performers for growth.
• Motivating staff to deliver premier service to pet guests and their parents in a safe, clean, fun atmosphere.
• Fostering open communication with regional and corporate teams regarding resort operations.
• Supporting new and current team members with required courses and other training.
• Documenting and delivering employee corrective actions and terminations when necessary.
• Maintaining inventory of supplies, lodging calendars, leading meetings, and performing other MOD duties.
• Maintaining excellent customer service metrics such as NPS and online reviews.
• Speaking with customers to address concerns, questions, or complaints with professionalism.
• Developing methods and procedures to increase sales and attract new customers.
• Performing resort opening/closing duties and other tasks as assigned.
• Maintaining 5-day on-site workweeks (Mon-Sun) with no more than 3 consecutive off days.
• Working on-site 3–4 weekend days per month and on holidays.
