Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Michigan is seeking a full-time Waste Collection Operator to serve residential routes, loading and transporting solid waste and recyclables.

You will operate rear-load/side-load trucks, perform pre- and post-trip inspections, and maintain accurate service records, while upholding all safety policies and driving laws. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a Commercial Driver's License, and at least one year of driving experience or CDL training; overtime

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or desired.
• Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
• Minimum one year of commercial driving experience or CDL training.
• Able to meet safety sensitive criteria and operate the vehicle safely.

Responsibilities

• Operate a residential/recycling collection truck on the specified route.
• Load waste and recyclables into the rear or side of the vehicle.
• Compact trash using truck equipment and maintain route quality.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete reports.
• Report mechanical issues to supervisor immediately.
• Maintain the vehicle interior and exterior cleanliness.
• Maintain records of services performed and inventory used.
• May work overtime as required by management.
• Attend safety and branch meetings and follow company policies.
