Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Helper to support the driver on residential routes, help load waste, and maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety. You will direct the driver from the ground and assist with customer interactions, ensuring timely service and adherence to safety policies.

The role emphasizes loading waste, operating packer mechanisms, and performing routine vehicle inspections as needed on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• Must be able to assist the driver and work on a residential waste collection route.
• Ability to load waste safely and operate vehicle equipment per policy.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and loading levers to activate the lifting system.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body; clean hopper as applicable.
• Perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues.
• Interact courteously with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure timely service.
• Maintain safety and productivity standards for the department.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
