Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Driver Helper to ride along the vehicle and assist a Driver with prompt waste removal on a designated residential route. You will help load waste, direct the Driver from the ground, and assist in keeping the vehicle and work area clean.

The role requires courteous interaction with customers and colleagues, adherence to safety and productivity standards, and the ability to perform pre- and post-operation vehicle inspections as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route.
• Operate packing mechanism and levers to activate the lifting and loading mechanism.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck.
• Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle per policy; report safety issues.
• Courteously interact with customers, dispatchers and others to ensure timely service.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste.
• Clean area around accidental waste spills per safety standards.
• Maintain adherence to productivity standards for timely service.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
