Job summary

The Chimes, Inc. in Baltimore, MD invites applications for a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and behavioral challenges in a residential setting, supporting daily living and community participation.

You will supervise and train adults with developmental disabilities, promote growth toward goals, and ensure the home reflects each person’s preferences while following program plans. Medication administration and safety are included in daily duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to lift, push, and assist individuals (up to 50+ pounds).
• Must have a driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal support in the residence and engage with the person served in home and community.
• Supervise and train adults with developmental disabilities to promote growth toward goals per individual plans.
• Ensure the house is personalized to the person’s preferences and needs.
• Teach independence and self-care according to program plans; avoid personal activities during work time.
• Communicate with day program staff about the individual program.
• Administer correct and timely medication per PMOF/MAR with three-way checks.
• Monitor safety and cleanliness of home and belongings.
• Transport persons served to appointments and activities.
• Attend meetings and participate in training to support professional development.
