Job summary

The Mental Health Association is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to provide supportive, safe care in community residential settings within the ICL department. Travel to various program locations is required to support growth, independence, and community engagement for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college degree in human services or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
• Adaptability to participants' changing needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, person-centered support in daily living activities and skill development.
• Promote community integration through access to transportation, social activities, and resources.
• Support health needs, medication administration (MAP), appointments, and wellbeing.
• Assist with financial skills and money management; document expenditures.
• Respond to emergencies following agency protocols and communicating with supervisors.
• Advocate for participants; liaise with families, providers, and community supports.
• Contribute to ISPs; document progress and participation.
• Maintain accurate documentation: logs, incident reports, health records.
• Promote safety; assist with emergency drills and hazard identification.
• Collaborate with team; attend training and maintain MAP, CPR, First Aid certifications.
