Job summary

Mental Health Association - Western MA is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to provide a supportive, safe environment in community residential settings within the ICL department. This role requires travel to multiple program locations and offers flexibility while delivering consistent support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or autism.

Qualifications

• Must provide person-centered support in daily living activities and skill development.
• Ability to promote community integration and access to transportation and social activities.
• Health needs support including medication administration, appointment scheduling, and wellbeing monitoring.
• Maintain documentation of expenditures and financial skills development.
• Respond to emergencies per agency protocols and communicate with supervisors.
• Advocate for participants and liaise with families, providers, and community supports.
• Contribute to ISPs and document progress in participant records.

Responsibilities

• Provide respectful, person-centered support to participants in daily living activities and skill development.
• Promote community integration by facilitating access to transportation and social activities.
• Support health needs including medication administration and appointment scheduling.
• Assist with money management and maintain accurate expenditure documentation.
• Respond to emergencies; follow agency protocols and notify supervisors.
• Advocate for participants and liaise with families and community supports.
• Contribute to ISP development and document progress and participation.
• Maintain timely documentation including logs and health records.
• Support safety through procedures and emergency drills; identify hazards.
• Collaborate with team, attend trainings, maintain MAP/CPR/First Aid certifications.
