Job summary

Avalon Housing is seeking a part‑time Residential Support Specialist to staff our 24/7 front desk in Ann Arbor, MI. You will check visitors in, answer calls, monitor security, and help connect residents with services and providers.

The role supports safety and well‑being, requiring crisis response, communication, and teamwork. Training starts soon; benefits include PTO, life and disability plans, and a 403(b) plan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to work well with diverse people in a non-judgmental way.

Responsibilities

• Check visitors in and out, answer phones and monitor security systems.
• Maintain safety and security of residents by monitoring general access areas and enforcing program rules.
• Intervene in crises, respond to emergencies, and initiate action as required, including contact with emergency response systems.
• Coordinate services for tenants and contact outside service providers as necessary.
• Work cooperatively with other staff on site and visiting service providers; refer tenants to clinical staff as needed.
• Initiate maintenance requests.
• Attend staff meetings, retreats and training sessions.
