Job summary

HealthRIGHT 360’s MLK BHC in Los Angeles seeks an SUD Counselor III to support clients through assessment, counseling, and case management in person. You will deliver individual and group sessions, implement program curricula, and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to promote recovery and health equity.

The role emphasizes treatment planning, documentation, and ongoing client navigation of care, with opportunities to contribute to a compassionate, recovery-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in Health and Human Services, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
• Certification as an Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Counselor recognized by DHCS (CCAPP/CAADE/CADTP).
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients and provide regular weekly counseling.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions.
• Link clients to internal and external resources based on treatment needs.
• Develop, maintain, and update treatment and discharge plans and progress notes.
• Proactively assist with intake, documentation, and data entry per protocol.
• Follow up on client progress and monitor medication administration as needed.
• Support safety protocols and respond to emergencies as required.
