Job summary

Thurston County Public Works is seeking a Residential Stormwater Inspector to manage the Residential Stormwater Inspection Program within the Water Resources team. You will work with property owners, HOAs, and local agencies to ensure proper maintenance of stormwater facilities and compliance with regulations.

The role involves field inspections, data management, and potential after-hours pager rotation. A strong background in stormwater systems and excellent communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience.
• Four years in water resources or related field preferred.
• Must have ability to use a PC and related software.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license or obtain accommodation.
• Certifications within first year: PACP/MACP, CESCL, Traffic Control/Flagging, Confined Space.

Responsibilities

• Identify and inspect private stormwater facilities subject to NPDES regulations.
• Notify facility owners annually of maintenance responsibilities and provide reports.
• Conduct annual inspections and condition assessments of facilities.
• Maintain asset management databases and software.
• Perform IDDE inspections and respond to spills.
