Job summary

Thurston County Public Works is seeking a Water Resources Manager to lead the County’s water resources programs, oversee stormwater/utility operations, and develop partnerships with officials, regulators, and the public.

The role reports to the Public Works Director, directing the Water Resources Division including Stormwater Utility, Noxious Weeds, and Water & Sewer Utilities, and ensuring safe, compliant operations while advancing regional water management goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Urban or Regional Planning or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Five years of management-level experience in storm water or utility operations with supervisory responsibility.
• Knowledge of budget development, setting and administering utility rates, and grant management.
• Proficiency with MS Office and data analysis tools; valid Washington driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the County’s water resources programs.
• Oversee complex utility operations, including Stormwater, Noxious Weeds, and Water & Sewer utilities.
• Foster partnerships with employees, community members, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
• Report to the Public Works Director and manage the Water Resources Division.
