Job summary

Friendship Place in Washington, DC, is seeking a Shift Supervisor to support bridge housing participants as they move toward permanent housing. The role reports to the Operations Manager and follows a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM schedule with occasional overtime or weekend work to support operations and emergencies.

You will train new staff, coordinate with a 24/7 RA coverage plan, and deliver supportive, trauma-informed services while collaborating with case managers and external providers.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Experience: 2 years in residential or shelter setting; supervisory experience preferred.
• Certifications: First Aid/CPR/AED or ability to obtain; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Train new staff as part of onboarding and ongoing development.
• Coordinate with operations manager to ensure 24/7 RA coverage.
• Provide supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness with complex needs.
• Deliver face-to-face contact and work with case managers/external providers.
• Demonstrate empathy and adapt to participants’ needs to promote wellness and independence.
• Monitor residents and grounds to ensure safety and security.
• Oversee participants at the bridge housing site and enforce policies.
• Provide de-escalation support to ensure staff and resident safety.
