Job summary

Friendship Place seeks a Residential Aide for Valley Place in Washington DC. The role provides 24/7 on-site support to bridge housing residents, assisting with intake, safety, meals, and resource distribution within a Housing First framework.

You will collaborate with case managers and staff to sustain a safe, healthy environment, conduct rounds, and support residents toward permanent housing goals while upholding trauma-informed care and professional boundaries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years experience in residential or shelter setting preferred.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification provided or required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with staff to ensure 24/7 coverage.
• Provide supportive services to individuals experiencing homelessness with various needs.
• Deliver face-to-face contacts with participants and coordinate with case managers.
• Demonstrate empathy and flexibility to promote wellness and independence.
• Engage participants to assess needs, preferences, and strengths.
• Monitor residents and grounds to ensure safety of all.
• Oversee participants and enforce program policies at Valley Place.
• Provide de-escalation services to ensure safety with on-site security.
• Plan site-based programming and events for Valley Place residents.
• Report incidents and document within 24 hours.
• Support case management with observations toward participant goals.
• Conduct weekly inspections of units and assist with readiness for new intakes.
• Distribute meals and essential supplies to residents.
