Job summary

Friendship Place in Washington, DC is seeking a Shift Supervisor for The Aston, a non-congregate shelter for single adults. The role oversees Residential Aides, coordinates intake, conducts unit assignments, and liaises with security, janitorial, and food services during shifts.

On-site, part-time, Saturday and Sunday, 11 PM–7 AM. The position requires a high school diploma, two years in residential/shelter settings (supervisory preferred), and First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of experience working in a residential or shelter setting is required.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
• Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification that includes hands-on skills testing.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Residential Aides to ensure smooth program operations.
• Support residents and reinforce program policies and rules.
• Maintain a safe, efficient environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Handle intake for new residents and explain rules, rights, and procedures.
• Maintain a shift log and document activities and information.
• Coordinate meal delivery and distribution; supervise supplies handling.
• Respond to incidents with required documentation and reports.
