Job summary

The CENTER for Human Services is seeking a Recovery Support Specialist to join our full-time team in a supported residential program. You will provide recovery support services, advocacy, and mentoring to clients, helping them access community resources and develop plans for ongoing recovery.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or GED, be in recovery themselves, and demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED recognized as basic education required.
• Self-identification as a person in recovery from mental illness or substance use to support others.
• Willingness to engage in self-disclosure to assist treatment.
• Passion to help others with their recovery.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Reliable transportation and a valid Illinois driver’s license.
• One year of work or volunteer experience in behavioral health or crisis intervention (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery support services.
• Provide advocacy and mentoring.
• Distribute information and assistance in accessing community resources to clients.
• Develop collaborative working relationships with community agencies, homeless shelters, therapists, physicians, and law enforcement personnel.
