Syntax Talent Solutions, LLC is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the residential real estate accounting function in Arlington, VA. You will own property-level financials, ensure accurate reporting, and drive timely month-end closes while managing a team of accountants and partnering with operations.

You will refine processes, implement Yardi workflows, and provide clear financial insights to support strategic planning and performance across a growing property portfolio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
• CPA/ACCA preferred but not required depending on experience.
• Experience in residential real estate accounting is essential.
• Experience supervising accounting staff and ensuring accuracy/compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day property accounting activities for a residential real estate portfolio, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions.
• Review property-level financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, cash flow) prior to submission.
• Lead and manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and review of key accounts.
• Supervise, mentor, and review the work of staff accountants, providing guidance and training.
• Maintain and optimize Yardi-based accounting processes, including system setups and reporting structures.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards.
• Collaborate with property management and leadership to explain financial results, variances, and trends.
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve reporting accuracy and timeliness.
