Job summary

Allied Residential in Washington seeks an experienced Assistant Controller to lead the property accounting function, supervise property Accountants, and ensure timely, accurate monthly close and owner reporting. This hands-on leadership role requires mentoring staff, improving workflows in Yardi, coordinating with operations and clients, and driving internal controls and audit readiness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including property management accounting.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
Strong experience with Yardi property management accounting software (required).
Advanced Excel proficiency.
Strong understanding of property management industry accrual and cash accounting.
CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the property accounting team with clear expectations for quality and deadlines.
Review monthly property financial statements, reconciliations, and owner reporting.
Provide hands-on accounting support for PTO coverage and workload spikes.
Assist with audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting under Controller guidance.
Identify process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency.
